Are you a fanatical and ambitious rider or driver, and are you fond of the Friesian Horse? Do you want to enhance your knowledge about (Friesian) horses, your riding skills and visit the Royal Friesian (KFPS) Central Mare Show? Come to the educational ‘Horse and Rider Instruction Week’ in the Friesian Congres & Horse Centre in Drachten! This program is in English.

From Monday 8 September in the morning till Saturday 13 September a six days high quality program is put together for you by the KFPS, PMO and partners. During this week, several activities will focus on the Royal Friesian Horse in general and her breeding standards, with the Central Mare Show as highlight at the end of the week. Next to these activities you will also be able to enhance your riding or driving skills with instruction of several high quality instructors from the Northern Netherlands and there will be diverse excursions to discover The Netherlands and especially the Northern part. You will also be able to enjoy the nature with a trail ride through the beautiful wooded area around Drachten.

The program:

• Monday:
  • Instruction for riders and drivers (own horse or horse PMO)
  • Presentation by Ids Hellinga, President of the Royal Friesian (KFPS)
• Tuesday:
  • Trail ride through de beautiful wooded area around Drachten
  • Insights in the selection and preparation for the Central Mare Show and a presentation by the ’Breeder of the Year’
• Wednesday:
  • Instruction for riders and drivers (own horse or horse PMO)
  • Excursion Abe Lenstra Stadium (home of soccer club S.C. Heerenveen)
• Thursday:
  • Excursion Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen (revive the stories of people who once lived on the shores of the Zuiderzee)
• Friday:
  Central Mare Show, with:
  • Pre-selection Dressage Talents
  • 4-6 year old Star Mares
  • Final Dressage Talents
  • Championships the Friesian Horse in harness
  • Dressage Clinics
  • Championship colts and fillies
  • Championship Youth
  • Final KFPS Outdoor Driving Competition
• Saturday:
  Central Mare Show, with:
  • 3 years old Star Mares
  • Model Mares
  • Crown Mares
  • 7+ years old Star Mares
  • Pre-selection Talented Harness Horses
  • Championship Talented Harness Horses
  • Championship 3 years old Mares
  • Price for the Best Friesian Horse in Harness
  • General Championship Central Mare Show

The ’Horse And Rider’ Instruction Week’ takes place from Monday 8th Sept. in the morning till Saturday 13 Sept in the afternoon. This is including the Central Mare Show on Sept. 12 and 13.

Costs: €550 per person, all- inclusive. (except for drinks). Costs are including meals, hotel and use of a horse. You stay overnight at the hotel at the Friesian Congres & Horse Centre, where the KFPS and PMO are located.
